You have a Master degree (or are in the process of obtaining it), you wish to start a PhD in a laboratory, while benefiting from a competitive work environment linked to academic and industrial partners. Université Gustave Eiffel, is a well-known european actor in the fields of transport, development and networks, which can provide financing for a PhD in one of its laboratories.

Application requirements

To apply for a PhD grant at Université Gustave Eiffel, there is one and only condition:

• to have a Master degree or an equivalent diploma allowing an application in doctoral school, obtained before october of the current year

In cases of diploma equivalence, the authorization of application at the selected doctoral school will be checked prior to the PhD application submission.

PhD topics

To apply, you have to identify a research topic among those proposed by Université Gustave Eiffel research laboratories. When choosing a topic, it is MANDATORY to contact the laboratory (PhD supervisor or head of the laboratory) in charge, to finalise with them the scientific contents of the topic, provided of course that the laboratory is interested by your application. Financing

The PhD contract granted by Université Gustave Eiffel is for the time being 2300 € gross per month during 3 years. Teaching vacations or industrial missions can complement these PhD contracts. While being linked to an Université Gustave Eiffel laboratory, some proposed topics can also be granted with fundings from outside the Institut (CIFRE, research contract, EU,...). The supervisors will provide you with all the necessary informations on these financings and on the recruiting process, which may slightly differ from the one concerning Université Gustave Eiffel financing (in particulier the audition can take place at another moment).

Application

After a preliminary interaction with the laboratory, apply via an online form (link at the bottom of the FICHE RESUME of the chosen PhD). You will indicate your civil status and the whole of your cursus with mention of the grades. The elements linked with the PhD (supervision, doctoral school...) are determined with the PhD supervisor. The complementary following documents are mandatory:

• a scientific annex (not more than 4 pages, free format), written in connexion with the laboratory, indicating the PhD contents, its progress, the used methodology...
• a motivated opinion on your PhD application from the supervisor of your Master
• an account (even temporary) of the grades obtained during your last student year
• a copy of your most recent diplome (master degree, engineer degree, research master degree if already defended)

These documents must be in electronic version, pdf format only (format: A4). Only the applications completed with these documents will be examined.

Procedure

• The candidates contact the PhD supervisor and agree with him/her of the opportunity of an application
• The candidates apply on the web page describing the chosen topic. Registration to get a password starts on 16/02/2026 .
  Then, the candidate receives an email containing the link to create his own password.
• They fill the form and submit the requested annex documents, with the help of the supervisor.
  The candidates can modify or complete their online dossier until 30/04/2026
• The pre-selected candidates will receive a convocation for an audition which will take place from the 01/05/2026
